Here is the first of ten original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is a portion of the storage yard at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop. Visible in the foreground are various and sundry replacement assemblies for steam locomotives. Beyond them is an unidentified Class AP-20 diesel-electric locomotive, along with several other engines awaiting repairs. Snow-covered Brush Mountain dominates the hazy distance. |
