Amtrak. Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Larchmont, New York, during May of 1989. Shown here (L to R) is AMTK engine #937 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are AEM7's built by GM-EMD and rated at 7,000 horsepower each. #937 was constructed in November of 1981. They are racing through the Larchmont Passenger Station on Track #4 with a train headed for New Haven and points North. Visible on the right is a portion of catenary stanchion #109. On the far left is a portion of the yellow-stuccoed Brompton Apartment building, where I've lived since 1 September 1977! |
