Southern Railway train No. 2 - the northbound SOUTHERN CRESCENT - was accelerating away from its station stop at Slidell, Louisiana behind E8A's 2928 and 6914. The 2928's oscillating headlight had been removed long ago, and the twin sealed beam light had been relocated into the upper position, but the lower light opening had not very been covered over. Many Southern E-units ran around like this in the 1960's, but by this time most of the few remaining E's had their lower opening covered up or had received nose doors without a light opening.
