Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took at the State Route 53 Bridge near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1964. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9676 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by Gm-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9676 is an EF-15 built in July of 1949 and retired in November of 1966 after just 17 years of revenue service. In this context, they're serving as tail-end pushers on the end of a 100-car eastbound coal train that's passing under the Bridge. Also visible is PRR N-8 cabin car #478034. |
