Snack bar-coach 3920 SILVER PARLOR was built by Budd in 1949 as Burlington 340. It was one of two cars (340, 341) built for the TWIN ZEPHYR with 30 parlor seats and a 5-seat drawing room. Both were remodeled in 1968 with a snack bar and 44 coach seats, and redone again by Amtrak in 1971 with a snack bar and 52 coach seats. In 1984 SILVER PARLOR was remodeled once again as HEP cafeteria car 8704 for the AUTO-TRAIN. The car was photographed leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on the northbound PANAMA LIMITED. |
