Tyrone. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, on 15 May 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #7063 and #7195. Both are EFS-17M's built by EMD; #7063 was built in 1956, but #7195 was built in 1957. They are pulling a 126-car westbound train of empty hopper cars with N-8 caboose #478013 through the Tyrone Station. Also visible is PRR #181725, an H-43 100-ton capacity Hopper Car built at the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during September of 1964. |

Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took at the tunnels under Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1964. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9785, #9788, #7069, and #8843. #9785 and #9788 are EF-15A's built by EMD in February of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #7069 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in October of 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #8843 is an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in December of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. In this context, they're emerging from the eastern portal of the New Portage Tunnel with a 108-car coal train on their way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to the Eastbound Receiving Yard in Altoona. The N-8 cabin car is #478171. |

7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here is PRR engine #2022, a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1952 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It and two other Baldwin "Sharks" are pulling an eastbound freighw train under the 7th Street Bridge into the Altoona Yards. Visible bekind it are portions of PRR engines #7070 and #9766-B, which are waiting for orders to proceed with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train. |
