Description:

The sign on the side of the Metroliner (under the word "Cafe") reads: "Rebuilt Metroliner. Ten years ago, the Metroliner was the fastest thing on U.S. rails. Today, after more than a million miles without a major overhaul, 34 of the 61 Metroliner cars are being rebuilt at the cost of about $1 million each. This Metroliner Snack Car was rebuilt at GE’s Erie, PA plant."

A model of the upcoming Amtrak AEM-7
Description:
The AEM-7 was still under construction, so a model was put on display in South Station. At the time, South Station did not have overhead catenary for electric train operations.
